Highway Blockade: High Court orders Home Affairs, Road Transport and Highways Ministries to appear before court

The Manipur High Court has directed Central ministries to explain the steps taken for opening the blockade imposed along National Highway-2.

Manipur High Court has directed the secretaries of Union Home Affairs Ministry and Road Transport and Highways Ministry to appear and explain the reason for not filing an affidavit personally before the HC.

The high court had passed an interim order directing the Union of India and others to take up measures through a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Y Mangi with a prayer of urgent interim order directing the respondents for free flow of the vehicles and uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to the people of Manipur.

In regards to this, the HC had directed the Union Home Affairs and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to file an affidavit which they failed to. 

The HC also directed them to filed an affidavit explaining the steps that have taken by them for opening the blockade imposed on the NH-2 and what are the difficulties faced by them which prevents them from opening the free flow of traffic on the NH-2, as they are responsibille for the maintenance and free flow of traffic on the National Highway.
