A team of Kakching district police commando seized 502 grams of heroin powder and arrested two drug peddlers from Sugnu Khongnang Makhong, Kakching district at around 12.20 pm on Friday.
The arrested persons have been identified as one Mangmuanlian,30, son of Lunchinmang and Thangguanlian Zou, 27, son of Nengchin Mang, both hailing from Haika H village, Chakpikarong.
Police reported that the alleged drug peddlers were arrested during regular checking by a team of police commando led by sub-inspector Robindro.
It has been informed the drug peddlers came on motorcycle (Royal Enfield) from Serou side. When the commando team signalled to stop the vehicle for verification the bike tried to escape from the commando personnel. However, the commando personnel managed to stop the bike, the Police said.
During verification and examination of the vehicle, 40 soap cases suspected to be heroin powder were detected from a bag they were carrying. On weighing the total weight of the suspected heroin powder was found to be 502 grams, excluding the weight of the soap cases.
The arrested persons along with the seizures have been handed over to Sugnu police station for necessary legal action.
