A combined team of Imphal East district police seized heroin powder, arms and ammunition from a residence at Khomidok Sorok Mapal, Imphal East where two drug peddlers were arrested, and five drug users were handed over to rehabilitation centres on Friday.
The arrested persons have been identified as one Ibema, wife of Md Sanajaoba, 37 and Moinam Sana, 29, son of Moinam Yusuf Ali of Khomidok Sorok Mapal, Imphal East.
Following a tip-off, a combined team of narcotic cell Imphal East led by officer-in-charge of the cell Kh Devkumar Singh assisted by assistant sub-inspector Md Tamijur Rahman, one executive magistrate of Imphal East along with volunteers of Youth Athletic Development Association (YADA) rushed to the residence of Sanajaoba.
When the team reached the residence of Sanajaoba, one youth (Sana) was seen coming out from Sanajaoba’s residence and he was detained at the spot. During verification and checking, one packet, suspected to contain WY tablets and weighing around 21 grams was seized from his possession.
Further, a cordoned and a search operation was conducted at the residence of Sanajaoba.
During the operation, Ibema handed over 16 grams of Heroin powder; one single barrel rifle (without gun license); two mobile phones; one tablet phone; nine live cartridges and two empty cartridges.
Five drug users who were found using heroin powder in a room at the residence were also detained by the police team. They were handed over to a rehabilitation centre.
Ibema and Sana were arrested and the items that were found from the residence of Sanajaoba were seized. Sanajaoba is yet to be arrested.
The arrested persons along with the seized items have been handed over to Heingang police station for further necessary legal action.
