Government must take steps to avoid hike in fuel prices: Nupi Marup

All Manipur Nupi Marup on Wednesday condemned the price hike of petrol, diesel and LPG cooking gas, and accused the government of looting the public post COVID-19 pandemic.

A release by All Manipur Nupi Marup stated that the continuous rise in the price of petrol, diesel have hugely affected the working class, students and the daily wage earners of the state.

Accusing the government for taking advantage of the Ukraine and Russia war issue to increase the price of petroleum products, it suggested that the government should have taken steps to provide 25 per cent of the emergency reserved petrol and diesel to the retail outlets in order to avoid the price hike of March 22.

Accusing the government of looting the public which had been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it added that the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme will not be able to afford LPG cooking gas owing to the price hike.
