President of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) W Shyamjai on Wednesday expressed the need for good parenting and guidance in making the state free from intoxicants and psychoactive substances.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the observance of the 2nd foundation day of Yaipokpa Rehabilitation and Child Care Centre at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai, Imphal West.
Shyamjai said Manipur being a neighbour with Myanmar, has become a transit state for drug business in the whole country.
He also said that the drug lords are the real enemy of society. For the sake of money, they are playing with the lives of the youths by exposing them to drugs, he added.
Fighting the drug menace in Manipur will be easy, if a person is given the three proper basic educations, namely home schooling, educational institute schooling and social schooling from childhood, he pointed out.
Shyamjai also expressed the need of following the proper guidelines in running and rehabilitation centres such as keeping a doctor, counselor and providing healthy diets.
Mentioning that users can become successful persons in his future if treated in a timely manner, he on behalf of the media fraternity of Manipur, assured to give maximum support in eradicating drugs from the state.
The function was also attended by president of CCSK Jeetendra Ningomba as president and director of SIMS Y Surjitkumar as guest of honour.
