In view of the inconveniences faced by artisans and weavers from remote areas, North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) is planning to provide free skill training to women from financially backward section.
"The trainees will be provided raw materials and market facilities by the company at free of costs...They will also be given sponsorship to the trainees for participating in various expo and exhibitions, NEDFi chairman PVSLN Murty said during a felicitation programme in Imphal on Tuesday.
NEDFi plans to provide formal credit at affordable rate to artisans and weavers living in remote areas for establishing MSME, he said, adding that in collaboration with the Manipur government, NEDFi has decided to invest a venture capital fund for start-ups in Manipur.
Murty and NEDFi deputy general manager AK Das were felicitated by the UNACCO Groups, acknowledging the corporation's contribution towards the entrepreneurs of Manipur.
UNACCO chairman Ningombam Irabanta in his speech lauded NEDFi for its services towards empowering the entrepreneurs of Manipur. He said as much as Rs 190 crore has been sanctioned by the corporation to UNACCO for its development since the last 15 years.
NEDFi will help in nurturing the entrepreneurs and it will lead to development in the state, he said.
Various cultural performances such as Maibi Dance, Thougal Jagoi, Stick Dance, Manipur Classical (Solo), Thang-ta and Pung Cholom were performed by troops from Harimati Dance and Music Centre as a part of the programme.
The function was also attended by prominent entrepreneurs of Manipur such as Babina Groups chairman Thangjam Dhabali, HVS chairman Vikramjit among others.
