The 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 22 Sector/ IGAR (East) on Thursday undertook the challenge of providing clean drinking water to Dikiuram village in Tamei sub-division of Tamenglong district.
Dikiuram village is located 22 kms away from sub-division headquarters, Tamei where 44 Assam Rifles outpost is staying with the village.
44 Adjutant said that the villagers of Dikiuram have struggled to have access to clean drinking water. The troops have chosen to help their brothers by helping in provision of safe and clean water from nearby natural water sources. The area faces water scarcity especially during the dry season, he stated.
He said that hygiene and sanitation are issues that affect the health and wellbeing of everyone. Clean water is required for drinking, cooking and washing, he stated.
Company commander Dikiuram post along with village church pastor and village authority members performed a special prayer session during foundation stone laying of Water Supply Scheme at the Dikhuiram village.
