Five security personnel injured in road accident

A road accident on Moreh-Imphal road in Tengnoupal district, Manipur left five security personnel injured, sources said.

At least four VDF personnel and one police personnel were injured in a road accident on Moreh-Imphal road in Tengnoupal district, Manipur on Friday.

The incident occured when a GPS enabled Highway Patrol Vehicle (Tata Sumo, BP - MN O1G 0035) belonging to Moreh Police met with a road accident near Moreh College in Moreh, Tengnoupal district, Manipur. It occurred at a spot between Moreh College and Petrol Pump Chikim village along Moreh- Imphal road around 11.30 am.

The injured persons have been identified as Mayanglambam Inao Singh, 41, son of Thomba Singh, Dharmasala Moreh Ward No.VIII; Nongthombam Naobi Meitei, 35, son of N Kesho Singh, Khunou Leikai Moreh Ward No IX; Takhellambam Tomchou, 40, from Kwatha Village; Letkhogin khongsai ,37, from Langching, Sugumu and Thangkholun Haokip, 58, a Moreh police personnel.

The driver of the vehicle Thangkholun Haokip said after returning from a routine Highway Patrol, the vehicle suffered from a brake failure and it resulted in the accident.

The injured personnel were rushed to Moreh Hospital. The OC of Moreh Police station also rushed to Moreh Hospital and took stock of the situation. The injured personnel are reportedly said to be out of danger.
