An elected member should repay the support of the public during the time of election with development works instead of delivering speech at functions or other platforms, Manipur MLA Sapam Nishikant said on Friday.
Nishikant was speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of Meira Sporting Union Building Cum Community Hall at Kwakeithel Ingkhol Lamhang Leirak, Imphal West. the community hall was constructed under the local area development fund.
Nishikant thanked the people for their support because of which he could fulfill the promise he made during the election time. He said good governance calls for ensuring welfare of the people. The ministers and MLAs need not show their faces to the public, but should show development works.
The MLA also said that he will always stand by the promise he made to the people during election time, i.e., "not to misuse a single penny".
Nishikant said he will not flaunt himself unnecessarily to the public but will show development works for the welfare of the people in his constituency.
Meira Sporting Union advsior Potshangbam Joykumar; former corporator IMC, Potshangbam Premila; elder member of MSU, Meinam Chaoba and elder member of MSU, Ningthoujam Ibohal also attended the function as president and guests of honour respectively.
Nishikant also paid tributes to the club members who contributed for the development and welfare of the club.
