‘Eat Right Mela’ organised in Moreh

School students, CSO leaders, BLO staff, Anganwadi workers and Asha workers took part in a walkathon organised as a part of Eat Right Mela in Moreh.

Eat Right Mela’ themed ‘Eat safe, Eat Healthy, Eat Sustainable’ as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was organised by Tengnoupal District Administration at Ayush Hospital complex, Moreh, Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.

As part of the mela, a Walkathon/Rally of different school students, CSO leaders, BLO staff, Anganwadi workers and Asha workers was also organised. The rally was flagged off at Primary Health Centre and ended at Ayush Hospital Moreh via the Moreh town market.

The event was attended by Tengnoupal DC Mannuamching as the chief guest, Tengnoupal CMO Kh Gojen as the president, Moreh ADC L Bobby as the guest of honour.

Resource person of the mela General Thiyam highlighted the importance of food safety and the need for FSSAI approval for all food products in the state. As many as 60 per cent of non-communicable diseases are caused by consumption of unhygienic food, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Mannuamching said that everyone should have the habit of eating a good and balanced diet, along with regular exercises for a healthy life. She also highlighted the importance of consumption of clean and healthy food products.

Launching the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’, Mannuamching urged the people of Moreh to hoist the tricolour flag in their houses in celebration of the Nation’s 75th years of Independence.

During the mela, different food stalls were also opened. As part of the programme, a painting competition for the school students of class VIII to X was also organised.
