Speaking at the event, U Narjit said that although the Hiyanglam assembly constituency MLA had distributed urea to the farmers of the Mayeng Lamjao gram panchayat, the farmers are yet to acquire the most essential fertilisers.

He recalled that on July 30 farmers of Lamjao, Tejpur and Laimanai had demonstrated sit-in protests, demanding the distribution of fertilisers. Despite the protests and enquiries, the authorities concerned have not given any positive response, he continued.

He cautioned that the protesters are prepared to organise more intense forms of agitations such as bandh and blockade if the authorities concerned continue to neglect the farmers’ queries. He urged the local MLA and agriculture minister to take up necessary actions promptly.
