Customs seizes drugs worth Rs 15 crore

Anti-Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Imphal on Monday seized 3 kg (in three packets) of brownish powder suspected to be of Brown Sugar worth around Rs 15 crore in the international market, from Kongba area in Imphal East.

In another drug bust, the Anti-Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Imphal on Monday seized 3 kg (in three packets) of brownish powder suspected to be of Brown Sugar worth around Rs 15 crore in the international market, from Kongba area in Imphal East.

The suspected drugs were recovered from the possession of Abdul Rahaman, son of Sirazudin of Yairipok Tulihal, Imphal East and Md Feijuddin, son of Haji Abdulhalim of Lilong Chingkham Makha, Thoubal.

It is reported that the suspected drugs were seized from the possession of the two individuals acting on the basis of specific information by the officers of Anti-Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Imphal.

The two accused have also been arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985 and further investigation to nab the other offender(s) of the case is going on.
