The Manipur government on Tuesday issued further curfew relaxation timing for violence-hit Chandel, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Jiribam and Bishnupur districts with effect from Wednesday, for the fifth day.
As per order issued by the concerned district magistrates, curfew has been relaxed in Chandel from 6 am to 10 am and 1pm to 4 pm, Churachandpur 6 am to 11am, Imphal West 5am to 11am, Jiribam 5am to 1pm and Bishnupur 6am to 11am.

The government ordered further relaxation in curfew timing in violence-hit districts of Manipur for the fifth day on Wednesday, citing an improved situation with the deployment of more Central security and State forces in all vulnerable areas, according to official sources.
The indefinite curfew has been relaxed in order to felicitate the public to purchase essential items including medicines and food supplies. Shops and other retail outlets are allowed to open during the period of relaxation, the cufew relaxation orders stated.
All persons belonging to essential services such as health, PHED and transportation of food and water are exempted from further imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation, as per the order.
Earlier, respective districts administrations ordered temporary relief to the people from the indefinite curfew in Imphal West, Thoubal, Jiribam, and Churachandpur on May 9.
Total public curfew under section 144 CrPC, 1973, prohibiting movement of any person outside their respective residences, is imposed in several districts since the outbreak of communal violence and arson at several places of the state on May 3.
