Crackdown on Vehicle Lifters: Seven stolen vehicles seized, four arrested

The police team also seized five master keys and two Iron tools (Align Key) which the accused persons used in stealing the vehicles.

In continuation of the ongoing crackdown on vehicle lifters, Manipur Police have seized seven stolen vehicles, including a Royal Enfield motorcycle and arrested four vehicle lifters so far.  However, the kingpin of a vehicle lifter gang remains at large.

The arrested persons are identified as one Md Imtiyas Khan, 40, son of Md Kayamuddin of Lilong Dam Makha Jabre Rahmania; Makakmayum Rafijuddin, son of Mm Basir Rahman of Madrassa Hamidiya, Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, Samurou Nagar Panchayat, Thoubal; Syed Ajad, 20, son of Syed Hashamudin of Lilong Awang Leikai and Yumkhaibam Hellal, 24, son of Y Abdul Satar of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Ubakthong.

Imtiyas Khan was arrested on April 22 in connection with an FIR lodged in connection with the theft of an Alto car (maroon in colour bearing registration number MN01G-7817 having Engine number FSDN3259993 and Chasis number MA3EYD61S00666620) from Lilong Chingkhong Khongnang Makhong.

The accused person was remanded to police custody till Thursday after he was produced in front of duty magistrate, Imphal East. Imtiyas disclosed during interrogation that the kingpin behind the case is one Md Wahid, 25, son of Md Jabar of Lilong Ushoipokpi Tharaorak.

In connection with another FIR lodged on April 22, Makakmayum Rafijuddin son of Mm Basir Rahman of Madrassa Hamidiya, Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, Samurou Nagar Panchayat, Thoubal was arrested from Lilong Turel ahunbi Dam, Thoubal District, Manipur.  

One Maruti Suzuki Car Alto k10 bearing registration number MN06 LA 6274 (Red in colour), which was used in stealing one Royal Enfield Bullet registration number MN01AF9600 in front of Advance hospital, was seized.  The said Royal Enfield Bullet was also recovered from Lilong Turel Ahanbi Dam on April 23.

In follow-up action, a team of Manipur police on Tuesday rushed to the residence of Wahid. On seeing the police personnel three persons tried to flee from the spot. The police team made a hot pursuit of the accused persons who fled towards Tharaorok hill range and caught Syed and Hellal but the third person managed to escape.

From the disclosure of Syed and Hellal, four vehicles were further seized. They are one Alto car, silver in colour without registration number (Stolen from FCI Sangaiprou Godown ref FIR no 83(4)2022 LPS U/S 379/34 IPC stolen on 20/04/2022); one Alto silver in colour (Stolen on 25/04/2022 at 8.30 PM from Uripok Khumanthem Leikai, FIR No 100(4)2022 IPS U/S 379 IPC); one Beat white in colour bearing registration number WB06G-4426 and one Maruti 800 car bearing registration number MN03P-0581 were seized from the house of Md Wahid.

The police team also seized five master keys and two Iron tools (Align Key) which the accused persons used in stealing the vehicles.

Stringent efforts are being undertaken to arrest all the persons involved in the vehicle theft cases, said Manipur police.
