Congress expels candidate for supporting BJP rival in Manipur

The MPCC said former MLA Salam Joy has been expelled in view of multiple reports from party workers and leaders from the Wangoi assembly constituency.

Manipur Congress party expelled former MLA Salam Joy who is in the fray from Wangoi, from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect for supporting his rival candidate from the BJP candidate Oinam Lukhoi.

An order of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) signed by working president T Mangibabu said that the former MLA has been expelled in view of multiple reports from party workers and leaders from the Wangoi assembly constituency.

The working president stated that there were viral videos and other evidence against Salam Joy for breaching ‘Disciplinary Rules’ provided under article XIX of the constitution of the Indian National Congress read with clause (h) of miscellaneous provided under article XXVII of the constitution.

Mention may be made that in the news reports in Manipur, Salam Joy in Wangoi AC announced support for his rival candidate, Oinam Lukhoi (BJP candidate) and also called upon his supporters to support the BJP candidate.
