Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday said that the state government will launch ‘CM Widow Pension Scheme’ on Tuesday. A total of 10,000 widows will be benefited from the scheme and Rs 500 will be provided to each beneficiary every month, the chief minister said.
On Tuesday, a three-day ‘Go to Village 2.0’ programme will be launched at Thoubal district to continue providing the benefits of various schemes and activities of the state government.
Speaking to the media persons in a press conference held at CM’s Secretariat, CM Biren said that the objective of the government is to deliver good governance to the people at their doorsteps. With the love and support of the people, the government has achieved milestones in terms of development and welfare of the people.
He said that due to COVID-19 pandemic, many people could not get the benefit of 'Go to Village'. After thorough screening, it was found that many people have not benefited from the schemes introduced by the state and Central governments. As such, the state government will be organising 'Go to Village' at different places of valley districts.
Biren said that the three-day programme will be held at Thoubal Moijing public ground, where stalls will be opened to help people in getting benefits under various welfare schemes such as PMJAY, CMHT, CMST, Old aged pension card, free gas connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, distribution of affordable LEDs under Ujala scheme and others and would deliver government services on the spot.
Free vaccination camp will also be organised at the site of 'Go to Village' and shumang leela (courtyard play) namely ‘Keidoubagi Kidoino’ produced by DIPR and ‘Ereipakkidamak’ produced by Education department will also be shown at every camps, he added.
He further said that all the valley districts of the state will be covered during 'Go to Village 2.0' and also mentioned that after considering the public’s demand, various camps would be organised at different places of a district.
Biren informed that tthe state government will contribute Rs 200 as state share in the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme. Now, a total of 6,000 beneficiaries will be getting a sum of Rs 500 per month under the scheme. Under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme, the state government will contribute Rs 200 as state share from now on. So, a total of 1,030 beneficiaries will be getting Rs 500 per month under this scheme, he added.
He also said that the government is targeting to increase the number of beneficiaries under the Manipur Old Age Pension scheme. The existing number of beneficiaries under the said scheme is 66,738.
Responding to the media persons, the CM said that due to pandemic, results of job recruitment in various departments are pending. However, the state government is trying to declare the results as soon as possible.
Education Minister S Rajen, CAF and PD Minister Th Satyabrata, Manipur Pollution Control Board chairman L Radhakishore, Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers’ Board chairman H Dingo, Kshetrigao MLA N Indrajit, secretary to CM Ningthoujam Geoffrey and others were present during the press conference.
