CM Biren assures to construct new hospital at par with AIIMS

The state government has started conveying to DoNER ministry about the need of constructing a new hospital of AIIMS standard instead of upgrading the previous hospital like JNIMS, RIMS to AIIMS standard, the Manipur CM said.

Assuring to translate the recent BJP election manifesto to construct a hospital at par with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh informed that they have started discussing with the DoNER Ministry about construction of the said hospital in the state soon.

He stated this during the inaugural function of Tele ICU hub along with 10 bedded ICU at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) on Tuesday which was organised by the directorate of Health Sciences. The initiative was taken up in a private public partnership model with an aim to provide state-of-the-art ICU medical equipment, ICU management software platform. The main objective is to address the issues of shortage of specialists in remote places, the CM informed.

Addressing the function as chief guest, Biren said that considering health is everything, the state government usually gives priority in providing a good health care system. The state government has started conveying to DoNER ministry about the need of constructing a new hospital of AIIMS standard instead of upgrading the previous hospital like JNIMS, RIMS to AIIMS standard.  The present government would surely construct the said hospital as executing the commitment made in the recently concluded election.

Biren further said that the state government has already received a sanction of around Rs 24 crore for the construction of a maternity cum paediatric hospital in the state. The construction would be taken up soon after discussing with other officials after ascertaining whether to be constructed separately or to improve the already established hospital.

He also said that a proper health care facility wouldn’t be rendered only by having well trained health professionals but there is also a great deal of high end equipment. The government will never compromise the quality of medical equipment whenever there is new installation.

While appealing to people of the state to do their service with dedication, he said that the present government is really concerned in bringing big change in next five years, uprooting corruption, drug menace and to promote equality in both the hill and valley. To achieve this goal, cooperation and support from every section of society is highly needed. All the employees working in any department should perform their service with dedication, commitment and sense of professionalism.

The programme was also attended by many doctors, staff of JNIMS along with ministers and MLAs.
