A Joint Action Committee (JAC) has been formed against the hit-and-run case wherein S Ginthianlal Vaiphei (72), H/o Thianneiting of S Kawtlian, died after he was hit by a car around 5.50 pm on Monday.
The JAC has given an ultimatum to the government/police to arrest the culprit by January 20, 2023 failing which they will affect a general strike from midnight of January 21, 2023 in the whole area of Churachandpur District .
The decision was taken during a late meeting held on Wednesday by the JAC along with the Kuki Khanglai Lompi GHQ, Young Vaiphei Association GHQ, KSO Churachandpur, Zillai Kangvai Block and Zomi Students Federation GHQ at the KKL complex, HQ Veng, Churachandpur.
The meeting resolved that the police must ensure that the Post mortem be done at Imphal and then returned back to Churachandpur District Hospital Morgue by the authorities and then make known to the public about the jurisdiction of the incident site as the Churachandpur police don't want to register an FIR stating that its Bishnupur police jurisdiction.
With the case unsolved, the body has been kept at Churachandpur District Hospital Morgue and has become a contentious issue as all CSOs of Churachandpur claim that it was in the heart of Churachandpur District but officials said that it was under Bishnupur District.
The JAC also resolved that the dead body will not be buried until the authority arrests the driver of the alleged vehicle/car and makes official about the jurisdiction or district boundary of Churachandpur District and Bishnupur District.
