Centre, state working on solutions: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Monday assured that efforts are being made by both the Central and state government so that normalcy and peace may be restored by hammering out a definite solution to the prevailing unrest in Manipur.  

She was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the launching programme of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047-Voice of Youth’ at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal.

She said both the Centre and state government are engaging in a process to bring an absolute peace in Manipur. The persistent efforts made by the concerned stakeholders have yielded positive results to some extent, barring some isolated incidents, she mentioned.

“Efforts to bring peace in Manipur are being made by the Centre and state government. The Centre is holding persistent deliberations with the people, civil societies, organisations, political parties as well as other stakeholders for ending the current situation,” she said.

Due to the present unrest, the development and economy of Manipur has gone back to 60 years, particularly women, children and youths are receiving its severe impact, she added.

She further said, “There appears to be a halt in the entire process of development due to the unrest. Children, women, youths as well as other people had faced serious situations. On my part, I am also putting efforts”.

Similar programmes were organised at each Raj Bhavan across the country. The programme here in Imphal was attended by vice chancellors of different universities of Manipur, head of several institutions, faculty members, students and others.

The programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi across the country through video conferencing.

Modi in the video conferencing said that India will be celebrating its 100th year of independence in 2047. Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Voice of Youth campaign will be a platform for the youths across the country to share their ideas for a developed India, he said.

He said students should stop satisfying themselves by achieving a degree course certificate instead they should know how to utilise their skills to bring development for the country.

There is a big responsibility for youths of the country in order to bring India in the top ranking among other countries of the world, he added.
