Cardiac arrhythmia is a common cause of death and disability all across the world. It is an electrical abnormality of the heart. Some such arrhythmia (palpitation) can occur in a normal looking person. It may be present in a patient all the time continuously or can occur suddenly and last for a few minutes to hours and stop on its own. In this circumstance, it is called Paroxysmal Arrhythmia.

One of common causes is PSVT (Paroxysmal SupraVentricular Tachycardia), PAF (Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation), Non - sustained Ventricular Tachycardia or Fibrillation.

This was a false-belief that death in sleep among young adults, mostly male was unavoidable. However, research and experience revealed that the common cause of such death is Brugada Syndrome, an Autosomal Dominant inherited heart disease. In Manipur, it is known as Manglaknaba. This can be prevented with a device implant called ICD implantation.

Another common cardiac arrhythmia is PSVT. This arrhythmia was earlier treated with lifelong medication. Modern treatment with EPS+RFA is the treatment of choice which is a curative treatment. After EPS+RFA no lifelong medication is required. SKY Hospital has been providing the EPS+RFA service since August 2015 with 100% success rate. This cardiac arrhythmia is included as a cause of Sudden Cardiac Arrest or Death. If such arrhythmias are detected in a Special Arrhythmia Clinic and appropriate preventive treatment started timely, the patients will survive.
