Decrying the bomb blast at a pharmacy located in a populated area, locals of Khurai staged a sit-in-protest at Tinsid Road, Khurai Lamlong, Imphal East on Friday.

One protestor, Nongthombam ongbi Radhamani Devi told the media that one powerful bomb exploded at ‘Boby Pharmacy’ on Wednesday at about 2.30 am. "One Leiren with her sibling were living next to the pharmacy. After the incident, the family is suffering from fear and trauma, she said. Had something happened to the family, then who would take responsibility?” she said.

Locals of the area condemn the blast in the populated area, she further said. If there is a misunderstanding, then it could have been solved on a negotiating table instead of resorting to extreme measures such as detonating a bomb at a residential area, she added.

She appealed not to repeat such incidents, which could hurt innocent people, in the future.

The protest was staged by displaying a banner which stated, ‘Do not donate bombs at populated area’ with other placards.
