Bishnupur Murder Case 2006: Two convicted

The court in Bishnupur district of Manipur convicted two accused in a 2006 murder case and fixed October 4 for sentence hearing.

The Session Judge, Bishnupur on Wednesday convicted two accused for murdering a man in 2006 at Karang Khuman Pokpa Laibung in Bisnhupur district.

The two convicts have been identified as Ningthoujam Kumar Singh, 67, son of late N Megho Singh from Thanga Karang Chingjeng, Bishnupur and Ningthoujam Yaima Singh, 56 son of late Matumba Singh from Thanga Karang Chingjeng, Bishnupur. 

According to a report, the two convicts chopped the throat of one W Laksha Singh with a knife at Karang Khuman Pokpa Laibung on June 26, 2006 over a fight.

Both the convicts were arrested on July 1, 2006 based on a complaint lodged by the father of the deceased, the next morning after the commission of the murder.

During the trial period, the prosecution in order to bring home the charges levelled against the two convicts had produced as many as 11 witnesses, 11 documents and six MOs.

After finding enough evidence of the crime and minutely hearing from both the sides, the court convicted the two individuals for murder and fixed October 4 for sentence hearing.
