The Tangkhul Naga Valley Students’ Association (TNVSA), an apex students’ body of the people living in the foothill areas of Ukhrul, Kamjong and Senapati districts, on Monday condemned the Manipur government’s alleged irrational manipulation of internet services in the state.
TNVSA, in a release, lamented that while people in the Imphal town/valley and Churachandpur have about 60-70 per cent access to internet facilities, the same is banned in all other non-crisis involving neutral districts.
It claimed that Tangkhul villages in foothill areas have been deprived of internet services till date even after it was restored in hill district headquarters like Ukhrul, Senapati, Tamenglong, etc. It said that the same is an unequal and unfair treatment.

The government needs to be logical about whether the ban on internet services in the state is still relevant and imposing a ban on the places where there is no crisis is rational, it stated.
The public never construe banning of internet services will be a solution to the current crisis, on the contrary, it will be a blunder mistake on the part of the government to invite rounds of public agitations for such unnecessary derailment of services, the association said.
It urged the government for early restoration of either cellular internet or installation of Wi-Fi internet services to each and every corner of the state sensing the inconveniences caused to the public and disturbances it caused to students, researchers, business activities and all walks of life.
