Arambai Tenggol, a now disbanded group aiming to protect the culture and identity of the indigenous people of Manipur, has issued a statement condemning the heinous crime committed against Lucy Marem, stating that it is unrelated to their activities.

In their official statement, Arambai Tenggol (Dissolved) vehemently denied any connection or involvement in the tragic incident.

The group asserted that their objective was to safeguard the future of all indigenous people of Manipur and denied the characterisation of being irresponsible psychopaths, as portrayed by certain groups.

Arambai Tenggol (Dissolved) expressed disappointment over the allegations leveled against them by some Naga apex bodies in relation to Lucy Marem’s killing, stressing the need for concrete evidence before making such accusations.

The statement further emphasised the possibility of an intentional attempt to tarnish the image of Arambai Tenggol and make them scapegoats.

The group urged responsible bodies to explore this aspect and clarified that they should not be solely blamed for every crime committed during this unfortunate period in Manipur.

Arambai Tenggol (Dissolved) described themselves as a small group of reasonable young men dedicated to protecting the culture and identity of their native land.

The release also appealed to all individuals and organisations not to pass judgment on their group without valid proof or evidence.

They reiterated that the group has already been disbanded, and therefore cannot be held responsible for any illegal activities committed.

Instead, they asserted that the responsibility lies with the individuals involved, whose identities have been apprehended and can be ascertained from the police department.

The government is expected to take stringent legal action against the culprits, it added.

In a heartfelt plea, Arambai Tenggol (Dissolved) called upon their fellow brothers and sisters of Manipur to consider their kinship and blood relations and refrain from taking actions that may lead to regret in the future.
