AR foils cross border smuggling of gold

During a routine checking at the permanent vehicle check post of Khudengthabi, troops of the AR recovered three gold chains without any legitimate bill worth Rs 24.90 lakh and cash of Rs 26,790 from two individuals including a woman, IGAR said in a release.

The Tengnoupal battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) on Wednesday foiled cross-border smuggling of gold at Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal district.

During a routine checking at the permanent vehicle check post of Khudengthabi, troops of the AR recovered three gold chains without any legitimate bill worth Rs 24.90 lakh and cash of Rs 26,790 from two individuals including a woman, IGAR said in a release.

The seized gold chains, along with the apprehended individuals, were handed over to Customs representative of Moreh for further legal proceedings and investigation, it added.
