The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM), while appealing to the government to restore normalcy in Manipur at the earliest, said that it was "utterly flabbergasted by the news of horrific video widely circulated on social media where two women were stripped naked and paraded towards a paddy field by a mob on May 4, 2023".

The ANSAM vehemently condemned the "horrendous episode that occurred in broad daylight and a group of men having the audacity to carry out such an abhorrent act with confidence outraging the modesty of women".

The ANSAM also said such an "obnoxious act" has no place in the present society and should be condemned by every right thinking citizen. "It is unfortunate that the state of Manipur is witnessing such scandalous behaviour and the world will take note of the brutal incident," the student body added.

The ANSAM urged the authorities concerned to take necessary actions and book all the perpetrators at the earliest and befitting punishment should be awarded as per the law of the land.

Further, the association, "with serious concern for larger interests at this crucial juncture", also appealed to the concerned authority to restore normalcy in a "peaceful manner so that socio-cultural harmony, peaceful coexistence and normalcy are maintained in the state".
