All Manipur United Clubs Organisations (AMUCO) on Tuesday extended wishes for Ningol Chakouba Festival, and offered prayers for better years ahead free of pandemic.
A release by AMUCO stated that as a festival which the whole family celebrates once a year, Ningol Chakkouba is one of the most important festivals of the Meitei community. Wishing for a Manipur free of communal division, it stated that even though Ningol Chakkouba was originally a festival of the Meitei community, other communities of the state have started to participate in the celebration after recognising the core value of the festival.
Recalling the death tolls owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, it also stated that AMUCO shares the sorrow of the bereaved families and wishes for better years ahead free of pandemic.
Urging the public to maintain the virtue of the festival, it appealed to the celebrants to opt for indigenous products as gifts. Warning the shopkeepers not to hike the price of their products by taking advantage of the festival rush, it asserted that AMUCO will take harsh action against transgressors.
