AMSU to discuss NH-39 blockade with NESO

AMSU stated that the ongoing issue of the indefinite blockade on NH-39 imposed by SAPO from March 23, will be brought up during a discussion with NESO in order to find a resolution.

The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) on Monday notified that the ongoing issue of indefinite blockade on NH-39 imposed by Southern Angami People’s Organisation (SAPO) will be discussed in the table of North East Students’ Organisation (NESO).

In a release issued by its general secretary Bikramjit Thongam, AMSU stated that the ongoing issue of the indefinite blockade on NH-39 imposed by SAPO from March 23, will be brought up during a discussion with NESO in order to find a resolution.

It added that Highway Protection Force should be implemented to prevent the illegal taxation and other ‘unlawful activities’ on the inter-state national highways.

Stressing on the adversities caused by the blockade NH-39, which is the life-line that connects Imphal and Dimapur, on the socio-economy and the public of the state, AMSU stated that the state government should notify the central government on the gravity of the situation, while pressuring the Nagaland government to resolve the issue promptly.

Stating that the blockade of national highway had been ruled as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, it accused the SAPO for spreading false propaganda about the Manipur-Nagaland boundary map.
