District Election Officer of Imphal East district Khumanthem Diana Devi said that preparations for the poll is almost complete for Imphal East district and the polling personnel will be flagged off on April 18 to carry out their assigned duties.
The DEO informed during a press conference held at her office chamber in Imphal East in connection with the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha election, 2024.
In Imphal East, a total of 3,23,844 voters and a total of 2,703 service voters of 10 Assembly constituencies will cast their votes on April 19, she informed.
There will be 441 polling stations including nine special polling stations for internally displaced persons (IDPs). Moreover there will be women polling stations at Yaiskul and Wangkhei. Upon such, ten Model polling stations will be there too, she said.
“This time, two out of the 10 Model polling stations will be Green Model polling stations at Wangkhei High School and Ideal High School”, Diana said.
She said that in nine polling stations of internally displaced persons, 999 are Inner voters and 728 are outer voters. Home visits for absentee voters have completed, she said.
Security deployment at 58 vulnerable and 67 critical areas in Imphal East have been done, the DEO informed, adding that polling will be done from 7:00 am till 4:00 pm on April 19.
She appealed to voters to carry valid identity cards when they come for voting.
The DEO sought support and cooperation from the public for a peaceful conduct of the Lok Sabha election.
