Condemning the prohibition of the ‘8 am street vendors of Khwairamband Keithel’, AITUC-MSC urged the minister concerned to withdraw the transfer of the street vendors to Lamphel Supermarket.

Drawing the attention of the IMC caretaker mayor, it stated that the increase in the traffic jam congestion is caused by the restriction of entry of vehicles from Thangal Bazaar to the Kasturi shop, and the careless parking and slowing down of auto-rickshaws along the already congested streets.

It mentioned that the street vendors indirectly help in the economic growth of the state, as stated by many economists and experts. It added that the Supreme Court had even urged the state government to commence the Street Vendor Act.

It further suggested the authorities concerned to prevent the auto-rickshaws from parking along the traffic jam prone road along the Khwairamband Keithel from Bir Tikendrajit Park to Uripok. It further appealed to the ministers concerned to devise programmes and policies for the street vendors.
