The Manipur secretariat employees under the Manipur Government Services' Federation (MGSF), Manipur Secretariat Services' Association (MSSA) and the Manipur Secretariat Drivers' Association (MSDA) have called off their indefinite cease work strike after signing an agreement with the Manipur government on Tuesday to increase their dearness allowance/dearness relief (DA/DR).
Following an invitation from the chief minister, a meeting with the representatives of the employee bodies was held and their demands were discussed under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, chief secretary, principal secretary (GAD), special secretary (DP) and other officers also witnessed the signing of the agreement.
After a detailed discussion, the state government agreed to increase DA/DR as 14 per cent from October 1, 2021 (7 per cent increase), 17.5 per cent from April 1, 2022 (3.5 per cent increase), 21 per cent from June 1, 2022 (3.5 per cent increase) and 28 per cent from December 1, 2022 (7 per cent increase).
In the meeting, the state government agreed to form a committee to look into the matter for subsequent DA/DR increases. The state government also agreed to examine and decide the various demands raised by the employee bodies. With the agreements signed, the MGSF, MSSA and the MSDA agreed to call off the cease-work strike with immediate effect.
