A team of district police, Jiribam seized around 197.4 kilograms of ganja from a goods truck and arrested three occupants of the vehicles at around 11.30 pm on Tuesday along the National Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam).
The arrested persons have been identified as Pukhrambam Dipu Singh, 37, son of P Kamdebo Singh of Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Mamang Leirak Imphal West, who is the driver of the goods truck; Okram Sanatomba Meitei, 30, son of late O Ibocha Meitei of Keibi Heikrak Mapal Awang Leikai, Imphal East who is the assistant driver and Pukhrambam James Singh, 19, son of P Ibochouba Singh of Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Mamang Leirak.

Police said a team of Jiribam district police led by sub-inspector Umananda and assistant sub-inspector of Narcotic cell, Jiribam, Krishna under the supervision of SP, Jiribam district, Ksh Rabikumar Singh while conducting frisking and checking as a part of ‘War on Drugs 2.0’ stopped a goods truck bearing registration number MN 05C- 1298 coming from Imphal towards Silchar.
On checking of the vehicle suspected contraband Ganja was found inside the vehicle.
The Ganja was seized and the three arrested on the spot. The seizures and arrested persons were handed over to Jiribam police station.
Later, the arrested persons and the seizures were produced in front of district magistrate and were taken into police custody for a period of 7 days for further investigation.
