Congress party president Sonia Gandhi continued to be under close observation and treatment for post Covid-19 symptoms, party sources said.
According to sources in the party, Sonia Gandhi was detected with a fungal infection in her lower respiratory tract after her admission to the Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi for further treatment.
Sonia Gandhi was admitted to the hospital on June 12 after she developed profuse nose bleeding following a recent COVID-19 infection.
Congress chief spokesperson Jairam Ramesh shared an update regarding the party president's health condition in a tweet.
"She was immediately put under treatment and underwent a related follow-up procedure on Thursday morning. A fungal infection in her lower respiratory tract was also detected upon admission. She is currently being treated for it along with other post-Covid symptoms. She continues to be under close observation and treatment," the Congress party spokesperson said.
Sonia Gandhi tested positive for COVID-19 on June 2.
