Congress MP Rahul Gandhi expressed gratitude to all party workers and volunteers and said he “humbly" accepted the people’s verdict in the Assembly elections that was held in five states, including Manipur. As the Congress was defeated in all the five states, Rahul said the party will keep working for the interests of the people of India.

Rahul Gandhi extended his best wihes to those who have won the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur that went to polls recently.

“Humbly accept the people’s verdict. Best wishes to those who have won the mandate. My gratitude to all Congress workers and volunteers for their hard work and dedication. We will learn from this and keep working for the interests of the people of India,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Thursday soon after the election results were announced.

Congress suffered huge loss in the recently held elections to the 60-member Manipur Legislative Assembly 2022. It secured only five seats, while the BJP emerged victorious in 32 seats.

The Manipur elections 2022 that was marked by several incidents of violence and other unlawful activities witnessed 89.3 per cent voter turnout, as 265 total candidates contested for the 60 seats of the Manipur Legislative Assembly 2022. Counting of ballots was conducted across 41 counting halls spread over 12 counting centres in the state. The general election was held in 60 constituencies under 16 districts in the state in two phases. The first phase was held on February 28 and second phase on March 5 and repoll was conducted on March 5 and 8.
