‘Saving Lives, Saving Faces’ walkathon held

The walkathon was organised to popularise the role of oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the treatment of maxillofacial injuries, a release stated.

A public awareness initiative on wearing helmets and seatbelts titled ‘Saving Lives, Saving Faces’ was organised by Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India, Manipur Chapter on Monday.

A release stated that the walkathon was organised to popularise the role of oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the treatment of maxillofacial injuries. The walkathon was flagged off from Kangla Western Gate to Konung Mamang Traffic Island.

The event was attended by Wangkhei assembly constituency MLA Thangjam Arunkumar and principal of Dental College, RIMS Imphal Praveen Reddy along with a team of doctors of the dental college, it mentioned.

MLA Thangjam Arunkumar stressed the need for such an awareness programme in a state like Manipur where the people often disregard the importance of wearing helmets and seatbelts, it maintained. He also appealed to the people to take responsibility for their safety and to help prevent maxillofacial injuries, it added.
