As the country is set to reopen normal classes from ninth and above in schools and colleges from January 27, 2001, students across the country raised several questions during a virtual interaction with Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank. Replying to queries, Pokhriyal said the facilities of online education will continue even after the school reopens.
"For some time, a mixed format of online and offline will be available for the students," the education minister said to a query from a student from Varanasi while attending a virtual programme of interaction with students of Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country, from KV Andrewsganj, New Delhi.
Pokhriyal who is also the chairman of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, also said that the curriculum for the year was cut by 30 per cent due to Covid-19. Therefore, in the upcoming competitive examinations like JEE and NEET this year, the candidates will have more options to answer the questions, he said replying to a query by a student of KV Gurugram.
When asked about the New Education Policy- 2020 by a student of KV Andrewsganj, New Delhi, the minister said: "New Education Policy has been prepared keeping in mind the future of India".
"A lot of emphasis has been laid on practical knowledge rather than just bookish knowledge. The vocational training facility will be provided for students from class 6 onwards, in which the internship is also associated. Artificial intelligence will also be taught from the school level itself. At the same time, Indian values and culture will also be promoted. This policy is capable of realizing the dream of AatmaNirbhar Bharat," he added.
Earlier, the minister inaugurated a musical garden and an open gym in the premises of KV Andrewsganj, and planted saplings.
The Manipur government’s decision on reopening of normal classes with strict adherence to SOP was taken at the state cabinet meeting held in Imphal on January 16.
