Sponsorship assistance of school-going children

Orphan or semi-orphan destitute school-going children who are less than 18 years living with extended family, single parents or parents who are financially, or physically incapacitated due to life-threatening diseases can apply for sponsorship assistance.

The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Ukhrul/Kamjong invited applications from children who are of the age of six to 18 from Kamjong district to avail benefits of sponsorship assistance under the Mission Vatsalya.

A notice by the district child protection officer (DCPO) of Ukhrul/Kamjong Pabitra Thingbaijam invited the applications of destitute children of school-going age from Kamjong district to avail the benefits of sponsorship assistance under the Mission Vatsalya which was formerly called the Child Protection Services.

It informed that orphan or semi-orphan destitute school-going children who are less than 18 years living with extended family, single parents or parents who are financially, or physically incapacitated due to life-threatening diseases can apply for sponsorship assistance. School-going children whose parents’ or guardians’ income from all sources does not exceed Rs 72,000 annually or children who are from a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family can also apply for the assistance, it mentioned.

The sponsorship assistance is a provision of supplementary financial support to the children of poor families in order to prevent child destitution and to ensure that the children continue their education, it maintained.

The sponsorship assistance offers child care within the family setting including medical, nutritional, educational and other needs of destitute children to improve their general quality of life, it continued.

It stated that eligible applicants can obtain the application form from the office of the DCPO of Ukhrul/Kamjong or Kamjong DC office, camp office, 2nd MR complex in Imphal from 11 am to 3 pm. The forms can also be downloaded from https://kamjong.nic.in and the issue and receipt of the duly filled application form along with the necessary supporting documents shall be closed at 3 pm of March 21, it added.
