Federal Students’ Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) on Tuesday appealed to the Manipur University registrar to withdraw the show-cause notice served to an assistant professor of MU Manipuri department in connection with his speech at a debate competition held at the university on September 25.
FESOK termed the notice served to MU Manipuri department assistant professor N Sanatomba by the MU registrar “unreasonable”. It condemned the resolution of the MU Deans’ Committee meeting that was held on September 27 to serve the show-cause notice to N Sanatomba, it stated.
Demanding the authorities to withdraw the show-cause notice, FESOK said: "It is the right of an intellectual to call out the limitations and demerits of a subject. FESOK also deplored the authorities’ denial of the Right to Freedom of Speech inscribed in Article 19 (a) of the Indian Constitution”.
