The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for both medical and engineering will be held on September 13 and this time the number of examination centers in the state will be increased, Education Minister Th Radheshyam said Thursday.
The minister also said during a media briefing in Imphal that in view of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be followed during the common entrance test for both medical and engineering subjects to be conducted under the National Testing Agency (NTA), Ministry of Education.
Pointing out that the previous examinations were held only at CBSE schools and the number of applicants has increased over the years, the minister said the upcoming NEET examination centres will be located at both CBSE and government schools.
Dr Radheshyam said that several complaints from parents and guardians were received regarding the students’ apprehension in appearing for the examination and the fear of community transmission. Considering the concerns of the parents and applicants for the NEET examination, the NTA chairman agreed to take necessary measures for the students for the coming NEET examination to prevent the spread of COVID-19, he added.
Radheshyam appealed to the students to prepare well for the upcoming examination and come out with flying colours.
