Manipur Education Minister S Rajen Singh on Wednesday said that the government is well prepared for the successful implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) in the state.
Rajen was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of a newly constructed school classrooms of Laphupat Tera High School (Govt aided) in Imphal West. He said that the government with the initiative of School Fagathansi Mission has improved the education system in the state. Number of school dropout students has tremendously decreased, he added.
He informed that the government has a decision to convert Laphupat Tera High School to a fully fledged government high school.
The minister said that there has been development in many spheres during the regime of the present government. “Manipur is a poor state. Maximum parents in the state cannot afford for their children to get education in private schools. Now, the students need not to go to private schools since the government schools have been improved a lot,” he informed.
Rajen maintained that the school management committee needs to be well equipped and empowered. Teachers in government schools are well qualified in comparison to private schools. The only thing is that the teachers need to keep practicing and dedicated service, he said.
Deputy speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly K Robindro Singh attended the occasion as president. Pradhan, Laphupat Tera Komlakhong, GP N Basanta Singh also shared the dais as guests of honour during the occasion.
