Grading system for board exams: Manipur Education Minister Th Basantakumar

The board exam will continue as it is but there will be two stages, the main exam and improvement exam. The compartmental exam will be changed to an improvement exam, Manipur Education Minister Th Basantakumar said.

Manipur Education Minister Th Basantakumar on Friday said that to reduce examination stress, board examination mark system will be changed to grading system, following National Education Policy.

He said so during the supplementary question of star question put up by MLA Surjakumar Okram regarding National Education Policy.

Education minister said that the board exam will continue as it is but there will be two stages, the main exam and improvement exam. The compartmental exam will be changed to an improvement exam, he said.

The minister also informed that under the PM SHRI scheme, 69 schools of Manipur were selected from different districts, based on certain criteria by the Ministry of Education and added that 264 schools of Manipur apply in the scheme.

Among small states, Manipur has the highest number of schools selected under the scheme, he said.

The National Credit System Framework is yet to be implemented due to non-publication of syllabus from NCERT and that it is not implemented in India due to lack of syllabus, minister said.
