Associations cease open-air entertainment programmes in Manipur

Four associations held a joint meeting and decided to cease all forms of open-air entertainment programmes in view of the coming 10 and 12 standard examinations.

The Film Forum Manipur (FFM), Apunba Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup, All Manipur Sound Service Association and the Manipur State Sumang Leela Council have decided to cease all forms of film screening, concerts and shumang leela in the open with effect from February 7.

The decision was taken during a joint meeting of the four associations held on Tuesday at the office of FFM in Imphal West, in view of the coming 10 and 12 standard examinations, in the interest of school students, a joint release stated.

The associations, however, decided to relax restrictions for functions organised inside halls and auditoriums, it said, appealing to stop all kinds of entertainment programmes in the open within 11 pm.

The decision taken on Tuesday will be enforced until the associations issue a new release, it added.
