AMMSO stated that the appointment of the “unqualified VC has not only damaged the reputation of the university but also hampered the development of technically skilled youths in the state”.

It mentioned that the organisation had informed the governor La Ganesan, chief minister N Biren, education minister, commissioner of Higher and Technical Education, and MTU registrar regarding the issue, and condemned the alleged negligence and silence of the authorities concerned.

It stated that the AMMSO had launched a stir, including shutting the VC office and the administrative block of MTU, protesting the appointment of the VC. It condemned Bhabeswar Tongbram for attempting to negotiate with the teaching staff, non-teaching staff and the student in order to cover up the issue allegedly.
