All Manipur Muslim Students’ Organisation (AMMSO) on Wednesday condemned the appointment of T Bhuneshwar as VC of Manipur Technical University (MTU), alleging that he is not eligible to even be a professor of an engineering college.

A release by AMMSO stated that the organisation condemns the appointment of T Bhuneshwar as the VC of the technical university recognised by UGC. Recalling the section 7.3 of UGC Regulations of 18th 2018 which stated that for the eligibility for VC, one must be a professor at a university for at least 10 years or an equal position at a reputed research or academic administrative organisation, it asserted that T Bhuneshwar is not eligible for the position.

Briefing the academic procurements of T Bhuneshwar, it alleged that he is qualified for an associate professor for an engineering college, at best. Condemning the haphazard appointment of VC of the technical university, AMMSO appealed to the governor of Manipur, chief minister, Education minister and the education commissioner to do the right thing and appoint eligible candidates
