The Lianda Folk and Classical Academy 22nd foundation day was observed on Sunday at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.
Deputy director of art and culture, Gurumayum Dharmadas Sharma, president of cultural workers and activists forum of Manipur, Budha Chingtham, and head of dance and music department Manipur University, Pukhrambam Lilabati, attended the programme as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Gurumayum Dharmadas Sharma lauded the effort of the academy in imparting cultural knowledge to the youths. He added that such efforts are the reason the Manipuri culture has received massive popularity on the world stage.
“Imparting cultural knowledge to young children is not an easy task and as such, Lianda academy has become renowned for its teaching method and practices,” he said.
Dharmadas further stated that such cultural organisations should be exhorted to ensure smooth transition of cultural knowledge to posterity.
Various cultural performances, including Thougal jagoi, Hari riha and Mao Naga dance were showcased during the observance.
