A 40 -year-old man succumbed to COVID-19 in Ukhrul district while seven others tested positive on Wednesday taking the total number of death cases to 10 and active cases to 115.
The district surveillance officer Ukhrul informed that the patient identified as one Thotreitha Hongray, 40, of Shirui village succumbed to Covid-19 at his native village on Wednesday.
The surveillance officer further said that Covid vaccination for 18 - 44 years age group will be opened every day till Saturday at the old district hospital, Khamphasom tang Ukhrul, and added that anyone can book anytime and come for vaccination.
Meanwhile the district magistrate Ukhrul issued order to seal, bar entry and exit of population from the containment area and directed to initiate active surveillance of the cases.
The residences of late Thotreitha Hongray of Shirui village; Khamung Mashangva of Khamphasom tang Ukhrul; Phungton Shaiza of Viewland Zone-II and Chonthing AS of Viewland Zone-I were declared containment zones.
The district magistrate Ukhrul Joseph Pauline Kamson advised any persons who have come in contact with late Thotreitha Hongray of Shirui village for strict isolation and informed the medical department for necessary action.
Any person, organisation and institution found violating any of the above measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, stated the order issued by district magistrate today.
Meanwhile, the residences of Vareiyar Kasar of Alungtang Ukhrul and Philapam Kasar of Khamphasom tang Ukhrul have been revoked from the containment zone as all close contacts have been retested and found to be negative.
