Tripura's active COVID-19 caseload drops to 17, lowest in Northeast India

Tripura has so far recorded 1,00,865, including 99,929 recovered cases and 919 deaths.

Among the Northeastern states of India, Tripura has the lowest number of COVID-19 active cases at 17, followed by Sikkim with 47 and Nagaland with 86 cases, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Tripura has so far recorded 1,00,865, including 99,929 recovered cases and 919 deaths, while Sikkim's COVID-19 caseload reached 39,077, of which 38,587 patients have recovered from the disease and 443 patients have died due to COVID-19.

In Nagaland, as many as 34,571 patients, of the total 35,413 confirmed cases, have recovered from COVID-19  while 756 patients died of the infection.

Assam, which reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Northeast India, has 1,4773 active cases of the total 7,24,144 cases reported so far. The state has recorded 7,16,028 recoveries and 6,639 deaths as of Thursday. 

In Mizoram, the number of active COVID-19 cases is 6,015 as of Thursday. The state has so far reported 2,16,036 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 2,09,363 recovered cases and 658 deaths. 

In Arunachal Pradesh, a total of 64,453 COVID-19 cases have been reported, including 92 active cases, 64,065 recoveries and 296 deaths. 

Manipur's COVID-19 caseload stood at 1,36,835, including 306 active cases, 1,34,416 recovered cases and    2,113 deaths.

In Meghalaya, a total of  93,516 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported, of which 91,778 are recovered cases, while there are  158. As many as 1,580  patients have died of COVID-19 in Meghalaya.

Meanwhile, India reported 6,561 new COVID-19 cases and 14,947 recoveries in a span of 24 hours, taking the country's total caseload and recovered cases to 4,29,45,160 and 4,23,53,620 respectively, as per the Health Ministry. 

India’s active COVID-19 caseload is presently at 77,152, constituting 0.18 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the Ministry stated. 

India also recorded 142 more COVID-19 deaths, pushing the death toll to 5,14,388. 

The Ministry further added that India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 1,78,02,63,222, with the administration of 21,83,976 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, as per provisional reports till 7 am Thursday.
