Taking steps to prevent any breakout: CM Biren on Manipur COVID-19 situation

The chief minister pointed out at a review meeting in Imphal on Monday that a total of 37 cases have been registered in the past seven days.

In view of the rise in Covid-19 cases in several states in India, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren on Monday reviewed the overall Covid-19 situation in the state and said that the state government is taking up all necessary precaution to prevent any breakout.

The chief minister held a review meeting in Imphal and pointed out that a total of 37 cases have been registered in the past seven days.

"Reviewed the overall Covid-19 situation in the state. A total of 37 cases have been registered in the past seven days. With Covid cases rising in other states, we are taking up all necessary precaution to prevent any breakout," Biren tweeted on Monday.

Meanwhile, the health department instructed JNIMS, RIMS and all the district hospitals to arrange enough bed in Covid wards.

As many as nine new COVID-19 cases and zero death cases was recorded on Monday, pushing the state’s total positive cases to 1,37,306 and confining the death toll at 2,120.

Of the nine positive cases, eight were reported from Imphal West and one from Thoubal. The positivity rate is 5.8 per cent.

According to the latest update by the state health department, a total of 155 COVID-19 tests were conducted in Manipur on Monday. Manipur has so far conducted 16,15,104 COVID-19 tests.

Three new COVID-19 recoveries were also recorded in the state on Monday. The number of recovered cases increased at 1,35,137 and the recovery rate is 98.42 per cent. Manipur now has 49 COVID-19 active cases, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

A total of 29 oxygen cylinders and 14 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur as of July 3.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 29,65,695 (first dose: 15,93,637 second dose: 12,59,603 and precautionary dose: 1,12,455).

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 61.98 per cent and for the second dose is 53.21 per cent, it mentioned.

So far, India has reported 4,35,18,564 total COVID-19 confirmed cases, including 4,28,79,477 total recoveries, 5,25,223 total deaths and 1,13,864 active cases.

Kerala has the highest number of active caseload with 29,527 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 22,485 active cases, as per the latest update on Monday.
