Oxygen dependent patients admitted in Covid ward, ICU still high: RIMS

Most of the Covid-19 patients admitted in the hospital wards are found to be unvaccinated persons, the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) stated.

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Wednesday announced that the number of oxygen dependent patients admitted in Covid wards and ICUs is still high although the numbers of COVID-19 positive patients are decreasing to a certain extent in the last few days, and most of the Covid-19 patients admitted in the hospital wards are found to be unvaccinated persons.

“One of the best ways to protect yourself and everyone around you is to get vaccinated against COVID-19,” RIMS stated in a release issued by its media advisor N Phillip Singh.  

Stressing that everyone needs to get vaccinated, RIMS urged the public that one must not feel that he or she is not fit enough or one is too old to get vaccinated. “Please come to the vaccine centre located in the DEIC building, RIMS, and get yourself checked by doctors and get vaccinated. It is a fully equipped centre to tackle any adverse event following vaccination,” it stated.

The Paediatric Emergency Station at main Casualty building, RIMS Hospital is shifted to New Paediatric Emergency Block with effect from October 18 (from 8:00 am) and there will be no fee for OPD tickets for those Paediatric emergency patients attending new Paediatric Emergency Block, RIMS Hospital, it added.
