One more die of COVID-19; 90 new positive cases in Manipur

Manipur's COVID-19 death toll rose to 2,125 while the cumulative number of positive cases is 1,38,558, as of Sunday.

COVID-19 claimed one more life in Manipur while 90 more tested positive for the infection on Sunday, according to the latest update by the state health department.

The state's death toll rose to 2,125 while the cumulative number of positive cases is 1,38,558, as of Sunday.

A total of 648 COVID-19 tests were conducted in Manipur on Sunday. Manipur has so far conducted 16,26,636 COVID-19 tests. The day's positivity rate is 13.9 per cent.

According to a  release issued by COVID-19 Common Control Room, 28 cases tested positive at RIMS, seven at JNIMS and 55 at other testing centres. Among the new COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday, 32 were from Imphal East, 29 from Imphal West, eight from Churachandpur, seven from Bishnupur, four from Thoubal, two each from Ukhrul, Senapati, Jiribam and Chandel, and one each from Kakching and Kangpokpi, it stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

The single COVID-19 victim was from Imphal East. The deceased had comorbidities and was also administered two doses of Covid vaccine, according to the State Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee.

The state also recorded 45 new recoveries, including 33 from Home Isolation, four from RIMS, two from JNIMS, five from SHRI and one from Tamenglong, it added. The cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases in the state is 1,35,793 and the recovery rate is 98 per cent. 

Manipur has 640 active cases as of Sunday.
